Beacons of the Past and LIDAR: shining new ligt on landscapes of the Chilterns.
In 2018 the Chilterns Conservation Board commissioned a high resolution 1400 km LiDAR survey in and around the Chilterns AONB. In August 2019 the data was made publicly viewable for Citizen Science analysis. To date, in Autumn 2020, we have had over 10,000 records created by volunteers, and thousands of hours of time spent pouring over the images, revealing myriad sites that were previously unknown, many buried deep in Ancient Woodland. In this talk Dr Peveler will tell us more about LiDAR survey, the Citizen Science process, and shows us some of the exciting new finds to have emerged from the study.
