An initiative by the Newbury Society and supported by the Newbury District Field Club, since the Open Day in March 2010, The City Project (TCP) have met regularly to plan further activities. The City is a historic area of Newbury.

The Friends of West Berkshire Museum is an independent charitable organisation working in partnership with West Berkshire Museum. The role of the Friends is to support the Museum through fundraising, social and othera ctivties as well as promoting the Museum within the community.

The Mills Archive was established in 2002 as a permanent repository for historical and contemporary material on traditional mills and milling, and to make that material available for public inspection and use in research and learning.
