Most people have heard about King Alfred, the only British Monarch called 'The Great", but this talk looks at the wider context of his life, his reign, and his military achievements, against a backdrop of a country at war. Sue Ellis presents The Age of Alfred.
Doors open 7pm for a 7.30 pm start. Members free, visitors £3. Refreshments (50p) are served before the start of the meeting.
