Complete History of Thatcham

This talk by Nick Young looks briefly at the whole period of human history within Thatcham, starting with the Paleolithic (old Stone Age) and coming right up to the present. He will look at the locations where our Stine Age ancestors were, and the evidence of te Bronze and Iron ages. passing into recorded history, locally at least, the first mention of Thatcham will be discussed, along with the development of the Parish Church and the Chapel of the Borough. A manor house, the coming of the railway, and anvil firing are just a few of the other topics to be covered.
