Marlow Lecture: The Origins of Wessex

Professor Helena Hamerow will speak on the Origins of Wessex, and the archaeology of the Upper Thames Valley in the 5th to 7th centuries, and in particular the spread of the high status Saxon group who Bede referred to as the Gewisse, during this period. The Gewisse later became the West Saxons.

Visitors are welcome. Entrance for visitors is £4, for Archaelogy in Marlow (AIM) members £3, and for students £1.50. Free parking after 7pm adjacent to the hall.
