Berkshire Gardens Trust

The Berkshire Gardens Trust promotes the enjoyment and care of our garden heritage so historically-important parks and gardens will be there for future generations to discover.  We run lectures and garden visits for our members to appreciate the county’s stunning designed landscapes.

Berkshire Archaeological Society BAS

The Berkshire Archaeological Society was founded in 1871. The Society exists to explore, care and promote the Heritage Environment of the past and present County of Berkshire. This will also therefore include those parts of Berkshire which became parts of other counties in 1974. The Historic Environment includes the archaeology, culture, history and architecture of the county.

Everyone with an interest in archaeology is welcome to join the Society.

Project Purley

Project Purley is the local history society for Purley on Thames in the Royal County of Berkshire.

Project Purley was founded in 1982 by merging three groups, Transcribing Parish Registers, Natural History and Archaeology at the Church. We have a regular programme of talks on the 3rd Friday of each month from September to April and outings and visits in May, June and July. Our main social activities are a BBQ in June and a Christmas Party in December. Each year we sponsor performances by the Rain or Shine Theatre Company which raise money for local good causes.

Newbury District Field Club (NDFC)

Founded in 1870 the Field Club is Newbury's local history society with additional interests in all aspects of the Newbury district's natural history, geology etc.

The Club meets at 2pm on the 3rd Tuesday of each month (excluding July and August) in St Joseph's Church Hall, 105 London Road, Newbury RG14 1JP. The Club also holds an annual History Day, usually on a Saturday in October.
