Late Victorian Newbury

A talk by Dr David Peacock being held at West Berkshire Museum.

The later 19th century was a time of considerable change for the town of Newbury, with a new hospital, additional railway lines, new roads, a new St. Bartholomew’s School, and a new Town Hall.  Cycling became popular and the first motor cars appeared.  Many Newbury personalities made a mark which still echoes over a century later.
Tickets are £5 and may be obtained at the Museum, at the Corn Exchange Box Office, or online.
