Living with the Americans

Claire Burdett talks about growing up alongside the social whirl of the USAF during the 60s, 70s and 80s.  Her father was Arthur Burdett, Head of Transportation at RAF Greenham Common & Welford Airbases.  Claire remembers barbeques at ‘The Manor’ (Greenham Lodge – Mill Hall), bowling, baseball, dances, Christmas, Halloween and parties, and explores the cultural benefits she experienced living between the two worlds of close-knit West Berkshire communities and the glamorous and fun lifestyle of the American military. One of a series of talks to tie in with "Greenham Common: 100  Years of War and Peace" an exhibition currently running at the Museum.

Tickets £5 from West Berkshire Museum or online. All seating is unreserved.
